Business Risk Management Courses

Business Risk Management – an Introduction
One and two-day workshops to introduce the concepts of risk management in a highly practical and interactive way – ideal to assist risk managers in getting the message ‘out there’.
Getting the Board on board
A short, punchy session aimed at winning the hearts and minds of the most important players to risk management as an effective business tool.
Risk Registers – making them work
Defining and developing risk registers to be a practical contribution to business profitability and/or service delivery instead of the ‘tick-box’ systems they too often are.
Risk Evaluation Workshops
Real-time risk evaluation at the coalface. Conducted either with seaprate business units or, ideally, with cross-functional groups, these workshops use well-tried and tested techniques to elicit and record valid. reliable and comparable risk judgements – with quality.
‘Top X’ Training – keeping it simple and focussed
How not to get bogged down in the trivia. Keeping managers focussed on what matters and learning to discard what doesn’t. Not ‘records for the sake of it’, but records and systems which make things happen – in the real-world.

Health and Safety Courses

Setting Effective Safety Performance Targets and Standards
A practical course for managers who want to develop effective local safety targets for improving safety performance. Then, how to develop realistic local safety performance standards for the future. (1 day)
Effective Local Safety Auditing for Managers
It's no good just having safety policies and procedures and doing risk assessments and risk control - periodically you need to audit whether the system works effectively in practice. This is a short introductory course on how local managers can undertake effective audits and thus continue to improve local safety practice. (1 day)
Conducting Effective Local Accident Investigations
When safety goes wrong and accidents occur it's often down to local managers to conduct the first-line accident investigation. But what is an effective investigation? How is one done? What are the outcomes supposed to be? What records need to be generated? What needs to be done with them? This course (doubly effective if a second 'practical' day is added) is for all managers who need to or want to do better, more effective accident investigations in the future. (1-2 days)
Avoiding / Managing Work-Related Disorders
Work-related musculo-skeletal disorders (MSDs) are an increasing occupational health problem in any work environment where postural or other biomechanical problems might occur. How to avoid such problems should be the primary aim of responsible managers, but how to do that isn't necessarily easy. Once problems have occurred, then the effective management of the injured persons and their return to work requires an additional set of skills and awareness of a whole stack of additional issues. This course, tailored specifically to local concerns, will lead engineers, managers and occupational health professionals through all the relevant issues in developing a management strategy for dealing effectively with MSDs in the future. (1-2 days)
Management Briefing on Specific Regulations
Awareness on specific Regulations and their implications (e.g. Manual Handling, Work Equipment Safety, Display Screen Equipment, etc). (0.5 day)
User Training Courses

To complement our IOSH Risk Assessment and Risk Management courses, we also offer a range of small group User Training courses specifically tailored to local company needs:
- Safe handling in the workplace (2-4 hrs)
- Using display screen equipment safely (2-4 hrs)
- Safe workstation set-up and use (2-4 hrs)
- Safe homeworking (essential for anyone working from home either out of choice or because of employer requirements) (1 day)

The course is suitable for all those managers and safety professionals who wish to gain a better understanding of how to use ergonomics skills (either in-house or through the use of external consultants) to improve workplace safety and efficiency, both in industrial and office settings. (3 days)
Ergonomics for Production / Manufacturing Engineers
A practical course on improving production safety and efficiency using ergonomics tools, techniques and skills to aid better workplace, workstation and work tool design. (3 days)
Ergonomics for Facilities and Business Services Managers
